we're sorry for the blank pages and down time as of recent. apparently our host has been steadily going downhill over the past few months, making the sqeez experience that much more wonky. either way, we're investigating solutions and working with the data center to improve the situation for all. the next version of sqeez may just knock your socks off. here's a run-down of what we're thinking of doing:

an all new interface
more live, real time elements (the stream is just the start...)
points that do something
remove the fat, add the precise (kill off the worst features and refine what we do have)

comments: finally customizable!

a long time coming, you can finally edit the look of comments on your profile!

simply goto profile > customize style and surf to the brand new "comments" section. you can change the colors, add an image and adjust the transparency level.

welcome to the new look of sqeez. file all complaints below {usability issues being most important}.

new features include...

rounded corners abound! {for firefox & safari surfers}
fixed spacing issues!
top navigation isn't awkwardly placed!

there's a few things that need to be tightened up here & there, but overall i'm pleased with the progress. i have a revised navigation interface in the plans, but i'm not sure when i'll let that change surface.

sqeez 2: status

sqeez 2 will be a gentle design refresh and enhancement of some features. the following goals are being made:

cleaner interface. more vibrant + energetic "default" colors
simpler customization tools {css is just too hard}
an actual decent search tool
more media storage space

anyone interested in uploading multimedia files, such as video or music?

expect sqeez 2 late summer as much focus is being spent on a side project. more details of that will be announced "when-it's-ready"

facebook user's can now get quicker access using our tiny new app we've been testing out. the app simply adds a sqeez icon to your sidebar and allows you to swing on by and check sqeez while getting your facebook fix.

currently, the point system is a way of sorting back information when you're browsing around sqeez. this allows us to {hopefully} display the best content first.

now, it's time to make those points a little more rewarding.

we plan on making points exchangeable for bonus features on the site, and making it more fun to keep track of your points.

for example, 250 points could buy you an additional 5 megabytes of storage space for the life of your account.

possibly 1,000 points could be exchanged for a sqeez t-shirt.

what would you like to see these points used for?

couple systems are currently down: this includes e-mail activation & password recovery.

if you stumble upon any "tokin login failure" ... it's related. jqr is currently investigating the issue and will fix as time allows.

also, while we're sorta on the subject, do remember sqeez is best experienced on firefox.

we're shifting gears and trying to get a consistent style throughout the site in preparation for sqeez 2.0.

for the time being, we'll be fixing all the little issues that come up. if you stumble upon any issues, please report them.

planning for the next upgrade to the sqeez system -under the codename sqeez 2.0 - is already underway. original name, i know. we'll be discussing what 2.0 entails over the coming weeks, and gathering feedback as to whether you think we're heading off in the right direction.

it's time to announce to official launch of sqeez 1.0!

we've still got a few minor things to tidy up around the site, but we're really proud of where we are today and we're extremely excited about out future.

we'll be announcing the first contest and other fun things, so come back and celebrate with us!

in other sqeez news, we've added further refinements to the customize style page. we now have accents so you can adjust the comment bar and the navigation tabs to fit color scheme. we also fixed a problem with the advanced css override adding some extra junk everytime you saved it.

jqr has been hard at work with further site optimization to ensure we can accommodate more users with the same amount of hardware that we have now.

greetings from sqeez hq.

we've got lots of little tweaks going on all around sqeez within past week, and i'm here to give you a quick run down of the things that have changed.

brand new blog editor
we dumped the crummy one in favor of this one. we'll still testing, but it's definitely usable and much less finicky than the previous.

speed increases
cleaner + optimized code for snappier response times.

graphic tweaks all around
a new "loading" graphic, loads of minor css tweaks and icons have been improved to look better with whatever color a page is using.

customize style goes deeper
you can now set inner background images, colors and background properties. line & letter spacing as well as opacity have also been introduced.

also e-mail messages are back online after jayoh deleted the account [ops], new users are now automatically friends with this blog, and we've got nicer file not found and no permission messages.

we're putting the final touches on things to make the experience that much smoother and if you've got any input on things we might have missed, don't be shy. leave a comment!
